Information

To become a part of NTNUI Volleyball you have to come to tryouts. Our main tryouts are in August and start before lectures at the beginning of NTNU’s «Fadderuker». We do have tryouts in January, but this is just for the teams that have lost players over christmas, and there are generally few spots available. All our teams that play in the series have open tryouts at either Dragvoll Idrettssenter or Gløshaugen Idrettsbygg (more information about the place of the different tryouts can be found below). The only teams that do not have ordinary tryouts are our women’s Elite team (e-mail volleyball-nestleder@ntnui.no) and our «Breddelag» (e-mail volleyball-info@ntnui.no).

Dedication is key in NTNUI Volleyball, and it pays off to show up to as many tryout practices you can. If you are intimidated by the level at your first tryout practice, do not worry! The A-teams on both sides are filled up first, then the b-teams, then c-teams, and so on, so do not be scared to come to the next tryout practice. Showing up at multiple tryouts will increase your chances of being chosen to a team! Experience from tryouts the past couple of years show that there are a lot more people who try out for NTNUI Volleyball than the number of places available in the club, so if you are chosen for a team (no matter the level or division), it is expected that you show up for practices, matches and tournaments, and mandatory tasks provided by the club, during the whole season. The matches, tournaments, and mandatory tasks are mostly arranged during the weekends, so you need to be prepared to spend much time during the weekends with your teammates. Especially the first weekends after the tryouts are particularly busy; August 31st – September 2nd (Training camp in Hitra), September 15 – September 16 (Midtnordisk Tournament + season opening party). and September 22nd and 23rd (first ranking tournament for 2nd/3rd division in Steinkjer).

More information about the club, costs and expectations, plus information about each of our temas will be published on these pages during the upcoming weeks.

About NTNUI Volleyball

NTNUI Volleyball is one of the largest groups within NTNUI and consists of over 200 members. The club is run for and by students and all work within the club is done on voluntary basis. NTNUI Volleyball consist of 16 teams from the Elite level to the third division and you are welcome whether you have been playing for years, or are completely new to the sport.

Although NTNUI Volleyball is such a large group, the interest for playing volleyball tends to be even greater among our students, so we arrange tryouts at the beginning of every semester (august and january). The rest of the year our teams are full and it is not possible to join us in any other way than trying out for our teams when we arrange tryouts – in august and january.

In addition to our teams we also offer “mosjon” every wednesday 2130-2300 at Idrettsbygget Gløshaugen. This is an open offen for all students with a valid SIT-membership (traning membership/card within Studentsamskipnaden I Trondheim).
